Animal Kingdom
A highlight of the visit was Animal Kingdom. We got there by 7:30 AM one morning, and the park was pretty empty. We headed to the
Kilimanjaro Jungle Safari, which is supposed to be like a trip through a game reserve in Africa. That morning, it was very foggy, which you can see in several of the photos. We repeated the safari the next morning, and again saw almost all of the animals, but did not take photos then.
Note that for some of the photos, you will have to navigate with your scroll bars to see all of the photo.

We also got to go on the Maharajah Jungle Trek, which is not scheduled to open until March, 1999. This section of the park, as with other sections, has many realistic details, such as bare wire power lines and colorful decorations (see bus below) similar to South/Southeast Asia. (Flyer below lists the Trek as the "walking tour through the Royal Forest of Anandapur." The Jungle Trek has several "ancient" temples, through which tigers roam and huge fruit bats (Rodrigues Fruit Bat) fly.

Many of the guides in Animal Kingdom are from Africa and Asia. One of our Safari Guides was from Kenya. The staff members' name tags include their countries.
